Basic Life Support (CPR and AED)


The goal of this course is to train healthcare professionals to provide high quality both single-rescuer and multi-rescuer basic life support skills for application in both in- and pre-hospital settings and as well as the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely and efficient manner. Students will learn CPR for adults, children, and infants.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Recognize several life-threatening emergencies
  • Describe the importance of CPR and its impact on survival
  • Understand the steps of the AHA Chain of Survival
  • Understand the steps for delivering effective ventilation by using barrier device
  • Describe how to perform adult, child and infant CPR both in single and multi-rescuer settings
  • Describe the steps of timely and safe use of AED
  • Describe the steps for relieving foreign-body airway obstruction for adults and infants
